Welcome to RVLouisiana. This organization started out as an activist movement to better the state parks of Louisiana relative to their use by RVers. If you can believe this, there were, and perhaps still are, dump stations on a hill making fully emptying one’s grey and black water tank impossible, water connections beyond 25 feet (typical length of a water hose) and RV pads difficult to access, or so narrow that stepping out the RV door might land one in a ditch.
Then there was the “Grey Water” problem. Louisiana wishes to attract tourists, assuming that many will be RVers. Staying in a state park is next to impossible beyond three days because of the need to empty one’s grey water tank. Louisiana parks do not permit grey water on the ground and will not accept latest technology that handles the disposal of grey water in a safe environmental way without the necessity of constructing “full hook-ups.” Why would the state mandate that “shower water” go into a sewer system? Wouldn’t watering flowers be better?
Suffice to say, these problems were met with RVers attending state park meetings to no avail. With all the attractions in our state’s capital area, it lacks a “single” resort type RV park. So much for governmental pride. So, it would be fair to say that Louisiana is not “RV friendly.”
Out of all the above, and more, RVLouisiana took on a character of its own with the mission of advancing RVing in Louisiana. It this attracts you, join us in this crusade. Donate money so that we can do some advertising and more sophisticated lobbying of our state legislature.
